A chef who was armed with a knife and allegedly attacked the home of actor Benedict Cumberbatch in north London has pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal damage.

Jack Bissell, a former chef at the Beaumont Hotel, forcefully entered Cumberbatch’s property and threatened him and his family while they were at home. Bissell appeared in court and admitted to the criminal damage charge, for which he received a $310 fine.

He was also ordered to stay away from the family and their residence for three years. The incident, during which Bissell allegedly kicked his way into the property and vandalized the premises, took place at an unknown date. Bissell was apprehended by the police, who found his DNA on the intercom.

It was revealed that Bissell had purchased pita bread before the incident and had informed a shopkeeper of his intentions to break into and burn down Cumberbatch’s house.

The Cumberbatch family, who had moved into the property in 2015, were reportedly terrified by the targeted intrusion. Bissell had a previous criminal record, including convictions for theft and warnings for offenses related to property, public order, and drugs.
