Embrace AI, digital revolution for national devt, dons urge inductees

The Vice-Chancellor, Lead City University (LCU), Ibadan, Prof. Kabiru Adeyemo; Dean, Faculty of Basic Medical Science, University of Lagos (UNILAG) Prof. Oluyemi Akinloye and Head of Department, Medical Laboratory Science, Dr. Mufutau Azeez, have urged graduating students of the department to embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital revolution and continuous learning to enhance their competence, productivity and professionalism.

They spoke at the second induction ceremony of 87 qualified medical laboratory scientists, held at the Adeline hall of the institution.

Adeyemo said with the emergence of medical technology, the revolution would assist medical laboratory scientists to perform their job effectively and efficiently.

He enjoined the inductees to embrace technological revolution in their practices while upholding ethical standards and principles governing the profession.

“We are in the era of digital revolution and Artificial Intelligence. These will help in enhancing their competence and productivity,” the VC said.

Akinloye, who was the guest lecturer, charged the inductees to prepare for change, reminding that digital revolution and AI have revolutionised medical practice.

Azeez said the ceremony was in fulfillment of the law establishing the council.
