Teased as the pioneer of ‘Afro Depression’, a humorous-yet-apt description of his style of emotive RnB, Nigerian singer Omah Lay has upped his ante with the deluxe of his iconic Boy Alone debut.

Featuring exciting duets with American superstar, Justin Bieber, as well as Latino maverick Ozuna, among others, the 20-track deluxe includes six new songs that solidly amplifies the cathartic experience of the record.
Since his pandemic-era breakout, where his pensive vocals caught on within the mainstream Afrobeats community with records like “You”, “My Brother”, “Lo Lo”, among others, the Port Harcourt-bred maestro has created a legacy of making emotive music, with intimate storytelling as well as relatable songwriting.
On the Boy Alone deluxe, two standout records “Joanna” and “It’s Yours” unpack more of the agony that surrounded similar standouts in the original album such as “Soso”, “Safe Haven,” among others, while “Come Closer” and the Aitch-assisted “Imagine” gives off a more soothing balance to aid a seamless transition to and reacceptance to the original album – which remains the main intent of deluxes.
As one of the most sought-after voices in Afrobeats, Omah Lay has also lent his instantly recognizable voice to a string of notable Afrobeats hits this year, including Libianca’s “People,” Tempoe’s “Soweto,” Bella Shmurda’s “Philo,” and recently he teamed up with Big Boss Vette on “I Can’t Stop,” which was featured on the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse soundtrack.
With Boy Alone Deluxe, Lay expands upon his hit tracks, delving deeper and sharing fresh ideas that hint at the great things ahead for the Nigerian star.
