
The university leaders and administrators under aegis of Committee of Vice Chancellors and Registrars of Private Universities in Nigeria (CVCRPUN) stated this during the General Assembly of Vice Chancellors and Registrars of Private Universities in Nigeria held at the International Conference Centre, Lead City University (LCU), Ibadan, Oyo State.
The Chairman of CVCRPUN and Vice Chancellor of LCU, Prof. Kabiru Aderemi Adeyemo, who spoke on behalf of others, in an address, said the law would remove the financial obstacles that frequently prevented talented Nigerian individuals from pursuing higher education.
VCs and Registrars of many universities were physically present while others joined virtually.
Adeyemo said the new law would empower students to confidently pursue their educational aspirations, ensuring that “no talent is left untapped and that every Nigerian will be able to access higher education.”
He said: “I thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing the new Student Loan Bill into law. The law will remove the financial obstacles that frequently prevent talented Nigerian individuals from pursuing higher education. This is a non-discriminatory law in that it will accommodate students from public and private institutions…..”

On the conference, Prof. Adeyemo said: “The committee serves as a platform for us to come together, collaborate, and address the common challenges that we face. Our universities play crucial roles in shaping the future of our nation by providing quality education, fostering research and innovation, and nurturing the next generation of leaders, scholars, and professionals”.
