Igbo group in Lagos APC passes vote of no confidence on Joe Igbokwe

A Group, Ndigbo in All Progressives Congress (APC) (Authentic), has accused the Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor on Drainages, Joe Igbokwe, of working against the interest of Igbo in the party.

The body, which urged the Lagos State government and the ruling party not to relate with Ndigbo in Lagos political space through Igbokwe, accused him of not representing the interest of Ndigbo.

National Chairman and leader of the group, Eze Uche Dimgba, who spoke in Lagos, at the weekend, maintained that Igbokwe is sabotaging the Igbo in the state by posing as the only person who can represent the South-East people.

Dimgba maintained that Igbokwe has no electoral value as he did not win his polling unit for the party during the last election and has remained a clog in the wheel of progress.

He said Igbokwe’s style of politics and activities were allegedly meant to ensure estrangement of Ndigbo from the mainstream of Lagos politics because he wants to remain the only cock that crows in Lagos State politics.

“Joe Igbokwe does not want Igbo elite in the political fold. He pretends to be an asset to the party while he is undermining the party and her interest. He has never delivered any election to the party even in his own polling unit. That speaks volume of his lack of influence within the Igbo community that he claims to be a part of and this has been a minus to Ndigbo in APC that he claims to be the apex leader.

“Ndigbo in APC, which was created to galvanise the Igbo for the party and to take care of Igbo’s interest, has not been able to achieve that because of lack of synergy between Joe Igbokwe and the Igbo. Ndigbo have vowed not to work with him because he neither has their trust nor does he represent the party’s interest.

“In the last election and the preceding ones, the party lost in all Igbo-dominated areas, including Coker Aguda, where he resides. Our group, led by Eze Uche Dimgba, who has always maintained that the Igbo in Lagos love our party APC because it has provided an enabling environment for them to attain commercial growth and as such the group should be functional in its role as a unifying tool between our party APC and Ndigbo to get the desired bloc votes for the party.

“We, therefore, unanimously agreed that Joe Igbokwe is no longer our leader and does not represent us, neither the interest of the party because he does not have the capacity to mobilise Igbo to vote APC,” he stated.

On his part, Deputy National Chairman of the group, Anselm Njoku, said Igbokwe lacked electoral value and therefore could not be representing the party in the state.
