The 82 Division of the Nigeria Army, Enugu said the exercise would hold simultaneously in Abia, Imo, Enugu, Ebonyi and Anambra states with the operational headquarters in Awka.
Addressing newsmen yesterday in Awka, the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 82 Division, Col. Sagir Musa, said the exercise runs November 27 through December 27, adding that it would be continuous.
“The prevalent security issues such as armed robbery, kidnapping, abduction, herdsmen-farmers’ clashes, communal clashes and violent secessionist attacks among other would be targeted.
“ In this wise, the exercise would be multi-agency in nature whereby the Nigerian Army and other security agencies are expected to synergise and collaborate extensively,” he said.
Musa warned all groups against breach of security, saying: “We will disarm them with the aim of maintaining peace and security in the area. All the military is doing is for the interest of people in the South East.”
