Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, has called on Nigerians to continue to support and pray for newly installed leaders to deliver good governance in the country.
Speaking in his palace, shortly after Eid prayers, yesterday, the Sultan also urged security agencies to redouble efforts in the fight against terrorists and violent criminals disturbing the peace of the nation.
He called on newly inaugurated leaders to work for all Nigerians, irrespective of political affiliations, saying politics is over and now is time for governance.
Also speaking to journalists at the palace, Bishop of Sokoto Catholic Diocese, Mathew Hassan Kukah, called on President Bola Tinubu to ensure protection of life and property of citizens.
Meanwhile, Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Most Reverend Alfred Adewale Martins, has congratulated Muslims on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir.
Martins, in his goodwill message, urged Muslim faithful to use the Sallah period to “pray for the restoration of peace and security and economic recovery, so that there would be religious harmony than hitherto has been.”
He added: “I believe with their prayers, there will be better understating of one another, by the grace God. I also urge them to put in check extremists among them, just as we have extremists in the Christian fold, and pray that God will take perfect control of the nation.”
