In a video clip captured by a fan and shared on Twitter, Nigerian singer Rema addressed the crowd at his show in Atlanta on July 27, 2023, and said that he would not be performing because the venue was “not good enough.”

“Afrobeats is way too big to look like this,” Rema said. “I don’t take no rubbish and I respect my fans. I’m going to reschedule this show because they have disrespected me and disrespected Afrobeats by treating you guys like this.”

The video shows Rema walking off the stage after making his statement. The Buckhead Theatre, the venue where the show was taking place, has not yet commented on the incident.
