Asks commercial buses to cut cost by 25%
Lagos State Government, yesterday, slashed the cost of transportation on all its transport systems by 50 per cent as a palliative measure against the effect of fuel subsidy removal.
The state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who disclosed this after the monthly security meeting of the state, said the policy would take effect tomorrow, August 2, 2023.
Sanwo-Olu also said that arrangements had been made with various transport unions to give a 25 per cent discount as well. He said his government would be proactive to make life bearable for residents.
The governor also stressed that palliatives would be provided to vulnerable people in the state to cushion the effects of the current hardship. Sanwo-Olu, while promising that his administration would handle criminal activities in the state, said the state government would support security agencies in carrying out their tasks by providing patrol buses and communication gadgets.
