Police arrest NDLEA operative over killing of 2-year-old boy in Delta

The police in Delta State said they have arrested the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) operative suspected of killing a two-year-old boy, lvan Omorhiakogbe, who was hit by bullet during a raid in the Okpanam area of the state.

The state police command spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest to journalists on Tuesday while parading some suspects.

According to Edafe, the suspect will be charged in court when an investigation is concluded.

Reports said the deceased was killed when NDLEA operatives were chasing suspected drug dealers in the area.

It was gathered that one of the suspects tried to zoom off in a car and the anti-drug officials in the process of demobilising the vehicle, shot sporadically, and a stray bullet hit Omorhiakogbe in the lower abdomen.

The bullet also scratched his younger brother, Eromonsele, in one of his eyes.

Omorhiakogbe was rushed to Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Asaba, where he was confirmed dead, but his brother was survived.
