The Nigerian Navy Logistics College, Kano, has averted a criminal attempt to break in and loot food items at the government’s own grain warehouse in Kano.

Besides, the Navy Command also rescued 18 female persons who were being trafficked out of Kano to Libya, an operation recorded after an actionable intelligence and quick response

Commandant of the Naval College, Commodore Usman M. Bugaje, revealed the development to journalists that the attempt by hoodlums was during the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) protest.

The Naval Commodore disclosed the calculated invasion which would have resulted in similar ugly development at a warehouse in Yola was averted following intelligence information and swift deployment to secure the warehouse.

Commodore Bugaje while handing over the leadership of the college to the new commandant, Naval Commodore James Kolade Adedeji accounted for the contribution of the Navy in collaboration with other sister military formations to fortify the internal security architecture of Kano state.

Highlighting his achievements in the last one and half year at the college, the pioneer commandant of the Navy Logistics College, emphasized a stable security situation at the host community and improve economic development in the state.

Apart from security intervention, the outgoing commandant emphasized the College successfully secured accreditation of two programs and obtained approval from the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA)
to run and award a master’s degree in logistics and supply chain management for the long logistics management course students.

“In the area of training for both officers and ratings of the NN Logistics Branch in the art of military logistics, several milestones were achieved under my watch. The welfare of the
personnel also took centre stage during my tenure.

“I ensured that both finance and medical consumable were provided to ensure the wellbeing of both staff and students. A snack bar was also constructed to take care of personnel meal needs outside the feeding provided by the College”, Commodore Bugaje noted.

The outgoing commandant who expressed gratitude to the Chief of Naval Staff, officers and men of the college for their support and enablement, solicited a similar spirit of cooperation to the incoming commandant.

The new Commandant, Commodore J.K Adedeji, lauded the achievements of his predecessor and pledged to consolidate and improve on the feet recorded in the college. Essentially, Commodore Adedeji said special attention would focus on the accreditation of academic programs, the welfare of officers and men as well as renewing cordial relationships with the host community.
