Lagos Police parade suspected killers of officer, 0thers

Lagos State Police Command, yesterday, paraded killers of Sunday Apochi, a police inspector attached to the Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos.

Persons alleged to be members of Aiye Confraternity — 39-year-old Igboro Rasheed; 30-year-old Rasak Adeleke and 23-year-old Moses Victor led by one Sulaimon Abass — during a fight, shot the deceased with a locally made rifle and thereafter used a battle axe on the officer before he gave up the ghost on July 23, 2023, in Ijaniki, Lagos.

The suspects are part of 39 suspects who engaged in varying crimes including murder, armed robbery, stealing, cultism, vandalisation, among others, paraded by the police.

The police also paraded a truck driver, Samson Olusegun, who was arrested on March 13, 2023. The driver was attached to a company to convey a 1/40ft container with Identity no. ACLU-9651677, loaded with 1,040 bags of blended solid milk worth about N60 million from Apapa Tincan Wharf to Friesland Campina Wamco PLC at 7B ACME Road, Ogba Industrial Estate Ikeja, Lagos.

However, Olusegun conspired with his cohorts and diverted the truck with the goods to Coker Bus Stop along Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, where Opeyemi Akinloye, Jimoh Iyanu and others trans-loaded the goods to another truck; and thereafter sold 491 bags of powdered milk to a 47-year-old woman, Hazimi Abdulakeem, who resides at Iwagba area, Ogbomosho, Oyo State. The suspects were arrested and the sum of N6,550,000 has been recovered from them.

The police also paraded a40-year-old dispatch rider, Philip Samson, who was arrested on July 20, 2023, after a complaint was received that he absconded with a parcel containing $45,000 meant for office use. Investigation led to the arrest of the suspect, who had been in the employ of the company for 13 years and recovery of the stolen money, at Ankpa Area of Kogi State where he was hiding. The suspect has been charged to court.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Idowu Owohunwa, assured Lagosians that the command would continue to do everything operationally possible to ensure that crime and criminality is brought to the barest minimum in the state.
