Diamond Dietanuru Osakorigho, a seasoned Nigerian comedian has made himself an enigma by creating a brand of comedy that combines the art of news reporting with humour.
His Pararan Mock News, which satirises issues in society and also focuses on human interest stories, is posted three times a week on social media platforms and is one-of-a-kind humour enjoyed by Nigerians and other English-speaking Africans.
Despite his popularity, Diamond Dietanuru Osakorigho remains a subject of speculation to many of his fans until his recent Instagram live chat, via his handle @pararanmocknews, where he took time to clear the ambiguities about his name and his background.
The Pararan Mock News presenter, who explained that he was the fourth child in a family of five, dwelt extensively on his Nigerian roots.
“My mom and Dad are from Delta State, Warri, Nigeria. I was born and raised in Warri. I attended Ovwian Primary and Secondary schools. I also attended Twinkle Star Secondary School, but I did a course at Ghana’s Chartered Institute for Financial Investment Analysis on Business Management Studies.”
Diamond Dietanuru Osakorigho, who attributed his disposition for humour to his parents, said: “Growing up, my mom and dad are funny couples, so they make the house fun with funny behaviours and conversations; it was so natural. I also never liked a dull moment; I always want to see people around me happy, so it was part of my motivation into comedy that I took it up from there.”
Diamond Dietanuru Osakorigho started Pararan Mock News in 2017 and became popular in March 2018. The most memorable moment of his comedy career, however, was far back in 2005.
“It was the first time I went for a comedy audition titled Made in Warri. I was declared the winner in my state. People in my community were all happy and proud of me. Since then, I have not looked back,” he recalled.
