NNL unveils match-draw as relegation play-off commences in Kano

The Nigeria National League (NNL) relegation play-off commenced in Kano Monday as official features for the four days’ tournament unveiled.

The eight clubs set to trade tackles in the playoff include ABS FC (Ilorin), Sokoto United FC (Sokoto), FWC Champions FC (Abuja), Adamawa United FC (Yola), Hensard FC (Yenagoa), Ikorodu United (Lagos), Smart City FC (Lagos), and Edel FC (Awka).

According the Match-Draw, Sokoto United FC and FWC Champion FC (Abuja) would open the campaign at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar-Mata while ABS FC would trade tackles with Adamawa United FC at the same venue.

In the southern conference, Ikorodu United will play Edel FC (Awka) while Smart City FC (Lagos) engage Hensard FC (Yenagoa) at Kano Pillars Stadium, Kano. The last two group matches for match shall be played simultaneously at the two centres.

Addressing audience at the unveiling of features NNL Chairman George Aluo appealed for highest level of discipline and fair play on the part of the players and the club officials.

The NNL chief who pledged thorough officiating during the four days’ fiesta insisted the era of club getting what they do not deserve is over.

“Let me appeal for highest level of discipline and fair play from the clubs during the game. I also want to inform you that club managers should not think match officials are super human being. They are human being and bound to make mistakes.”

Although there was an allegation of possible infraction especially registration of new players in some clubs, Aluo challenged anybody with credible evidence to report to NNL management for immediate action.

Earlier, the Nigeria National League (NNL) has dismissed as spurious news of the spread of Diphtheria disease in Kano, venue of its eight-team relegation play-off.

NNL Chairman, George Aluo, dismissed the news as false, noting that he personally made efforts to confirm the situation in Kano and that his inquiries from the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has shown that the city is safe.
