A group of 13 Ekiti indigenes known as The Omolúkàs have donated welfare packages to schools, hospitals and others at different localities of the state.
The indigenous group led by its Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer, Oluwatobi Ogunleye, Olaniyi Ayeni, and James Faseeyin, respectively, noted that the group decided to be touching lives in Ekiti communities since 2022 as a way of giving back to their state of origin, adding “We’ve been able to carry out these projects with the support of all the 13 members at the moment.”
In 2022, The Omolukas began their intervention by setting up a food bank to assist vulnerable families and residents of Ikere Ekiti.
Having provided matteresses and pillows to maternity wards in Ijurin Ekiti in February, the group on July 14, 2023, went further to donate tables and chairs to schools at Ilasa Ekiti to assist students by making them learn in a conducive environment.
“The Omolúkàs represents a gathering of like-minded individuals, passionate about the holistic development of Èkìtì and its people.
“At the core of The Omolúkàs essence lies three foundational pillars: Leadership, service, and governance because we firmly believe that leadership is not just a position but a mindset, a commitment to making a positive impact,” the group leaders said in a report made available to journalists.
“Through mentorship, training, and empowerment programmes, we nurture leaders who will catalyse Èkìtì’s growth and prosperity.
“We’ve reached out to communities, touching lives through community empowerment projects. Our goal is to leave no one behind, channeling resources and efforts where they are needed most,” they added.
Speaking on their community interventions so far, The Omolukas noted that, “In Ìkéré Èkìtì, we initiated a food bank that extended vital sustenance and financial support to vulnerable families in December 2022.
“Venturing into Ìjùrìn Èkìtì, The Omolúkàs undertook a comprehensive evaluation of needs within the maternity ward of a foundational health center between February 16 and 18, 2023. This meticulous assessment culminated in the provision of meticulously crafted amenities, including beds, pillows, pillowcases, and bed linens that were delivered on April 12, 2023.
“Our educational advancement came to life in Ìpotì Èkìtì as sets of tables and chairs transformed the learning environment.
“At Ìtàpà Èkìtì, we donated new class tables and chairs to students in June, 2023.”
At Ipao And Ìróporá Èkìtì, the group also donated couches and pillows to the health centres.
“We thank all our members for the recorded success so far. We invite kindred spirits to join hands in crafting a brighter world,” they said.
