As Obi storms state to drum support for LP candidates

Senator representing Edo South Senatorial District, Neda Imasuen, at the  weekend, called on the state governor, Godwin Obaseki, to create a level playing ground for all political parties participating in the forthcoming local councils on September 2.

Imasuen made the call while addressing journalists in Benin City ahead of the polls, in which Labour Party (LP) candidates would be contesting.

The federal lawmaker tasked the governor to ensure a credible, free and fair election devoid of violence and manipulation. Imasuenwho said the party’s presidential candidate in the just concluded general election, Peter Obi, would arrive at Edo today for a rally to canvass support for all LP candidates, appealed to the electorate to support the party to win the elections.

He said, if given a level playing ground during the council election, the party would emerge victorious, charging the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) to conduct credible, free and fair elections, which would be built on transparency, honesty and integrity.
