A 17-year-old medical student of a yet to be ascertained university in Lagos, one Great Orogun, has reportedly sexually assaulted a three-year-old baby in Ibafo, Obafemi-Owode Local Council of Ogun State.

The Guardian gathered that the baby was assaulted on August 18at a birthday party inthe suspect’s family house, where the organisers of the party are tenants.

The mother of the victim, Chidinma Umakawo, who reported the incident to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ibafo Police Station, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Kazeem Solotan, said Orogun sexually abused her daughter by putting his male genital into the daughter’s mouth.

Spokesperson for Ogun State Police Command, Superintendent of Police (SP), OmololaOdutola, who confirmed the development, yesterday, said the victim was answering questions put across to her by her mother, who engaged her in a friendly conversation on the party.

“In her little voice, the three-year-old girl innocently narrated what the suspect did to her. She narrated how Orogunshut the kitchen door, lifted her and put his tongue into her mouth.”

She added: “On Sunday, August 20, a Non Governmental Organisation called for a detailed investigation into the case.

“The victim’s mother lamented that her daughter is already a traumatised and showing sign of psychological breakdown. She subsequently demanded justice for her child.
“The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Police Command, CP Alamutu Abiodun has ordered immediate, investigation into the allegation, saying hewould not tolerate an iota of abuse of any sort against any child in the state, reminding that sexual assault is a human right violation and one of the top crimes he would tackle.

“He has assured of sterling investigation, while enjoining parents to imbibe authoritative parenting skills to abate the rising trends of sexual violation in the state,” Odutola said.
