The record puts a hallmark on Tseayo’s bullish run across the Afrobeats scene, spotlighting her impressive storytelling and creative direction.
“This body of work is a synergy of my favourite things, the kaleidoscopic stories told to me as a child, the places I have traversed and the people I have witnessed. The world is perceived in black and white, but introspection leads us to a bridge between the two,” she tells Guardian Music.
On Grey: The Midtone, Tseayo, born Tseayo Nguavese, taps her frequent collaborators to create a soundscape that amplifies Tseayo’s poignant lyricism and breezy delivery.
Interestingly, during her recently held exhibition, Tseayo also donned her creative hats as she creatively directed and curated the exhibition in partnership with the foremost designer.
Across her creative interests, including anime, books, painting, fashion, and music, among others, Tseayo shines bright as a creative force to reckon with. Her ascension to the limelight in Afrobeats marks a vibrant renaissance of female voices within the polity, challenging odds as a talented rapper and singer.
