Speaking during the event, the president of the club, Alhaji Tayo Adebanjo, said the club came into existence 40 years ago, comprising five young professionals of diverse backgrounds who came together to help one another and the society at large. “We never dreamt of having a clubhouse as a meeting point but rather decided to hold meetings at our residences in rotation to unite our families. The motto of the club is ‘Perfection’ which all members strive to attain,” he said.
The president noted that the membership strength of the club was deliberately kept moderate to build cohesion with disciplined members who are dedicated to the ideal family values. “The Blue Peers was formed as a non-profit, religious, political philanthropic organisation. We promote mutual understanding amongst members, support one another as occasion demands, promote social activities among members and their families, support humanitarian causes and co-operate with any educational, cultural and other organisations or government whose objectives are identical with ours.”
Chairman Planning Committee for the 40th anniversary, Peer Sulaiman Yusuf, advised the newly inducted members to be passionate about the club, noting that the club stands for unity and hard work.
“The Blue Peers is a club where members are encouraged to be hard working and save for the future. The uniqueness of The Blue Peers is that it is a gathering of professionals Pupils of Achievax Base School, Alakuko, Lagos during their graduation.
