A cleric, Rev. Samuel Akpan-Isong of the Champions for Christ Chapel, yesterday, said President Bola Tinubu had completely grounded the nation’s economy within his 100 days in office.

Akpan-Isong, who spoke with The Guardian in Asaba, while evaluating the President’s 100 days in office, said Tinubu’s performance so far was nothing but a guff, which had led to the suffering of Nigerians, occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy.

He said: “Tinubu’s 100 days in office is difficult to assess based on certain things we have seen. I don’t know whether to say he was prepared or unprepared or whether he just came to answer ‘President of Nigeria.’

“His 100 days in office actually heightened the suffering of Nigerians. Inflation rate was already high, but now heightened to hyper-inflation, affecting market price and other sectors.

“The fuel subsidy removal has cost us many things, which are uncounted, because we were not prepared for it. The suffering has been multiplied five times. So, it is something that is giving us concern. The naira is not stable in the international market. It has been paralysed.”

SIMILARLY, the Convener of a socio-political group, Concerned Edo Citizens Forum (CECF), Roy Oribhabor, yesterday, scored the 100 days of Tinibu in office low, having performed below expectations going by the alarming poverty and poor state of the nation’s economy.

The group, in a statement, in Benin City, said that after critical evaluation and review of the Presidency’s 100 days in office, it had shown no policy direction.

Orhibhabor said: “Tinubu’s first 100 days in office is wasted due to lack of direction to move Nigeria forward. Therefore, his policies so far negate progression, development and positive direction.

“The economic policy of the current administration is retrogressive, plunging many Nigerians into deeper poverty. Life has become miserable, depressing and uninteresting. Therefore, we call on the President to revisit his policies for the benefit of Nigerians.”
