Singer, songwriter, and renowned record producer, Augustine Miles Kelechi Okechukwu, popularly known as Tekno has come through with his second studio album, The More The Better, which has become a delight to his fans and music lovers.
The 13-track album is a follow-up to his Old Romance released in 2020, a collaboration with CKay, and previously released songs like Peppermint, Pocket, and Peace of Mind. With the latest offering, the hitmaker turned singer, may have sealed his legacy in Afrobeats.
“For me, this album is passing loads of messages to people because of the timeframe in which we live. Everyone just wants to move at a fast pace. No patience, no relaxation. Just allow yourself to relax and enjoy life,” he said.
Tekno is reputed for his use of punchy kicks, percussions, highlife chords, and matchless deployment of unpretentious lamba (dialectical) in making simple, straightforward, and easily digestible, yet richly arranged music, which sets him apart.
Though his breakout single titled Holiday with vocals from Davido was released under the imprint of his first signed recording label, K-Money Entertainment. The release of his smash hit Pana in 2017, brought with it, an incredible jounce that would change Afrobeats’ acoustic direction.
He has gone on to recreate subsequent records like Yawa, Diana, Rara, Go, Skeletun, Mufasa, and Jogodo among others. His 2020 Old Romance album failed to deliver the nostalgia of his commercial run and peak, which he enjoyed between 2017 and 2018.
It took a while before he would recover from this slump as he suffered vocal issues that required medical attention. Between 2021 and 2022, Tekno released different records but it was Buga, his collaboration with Kizz Daniel that reminded listeners of his flair.
Having gained the attention of listeners, the now-based United States of America musician quickly followed up with a series of singles and guest appearances that would all lead up to the release of his sophomore album, The More The Better.
