The President, Rotary Club of Isolo (2023-2024) Hajia Abimbola Oseni has appealed to the government to partner with Rotary International with a view to doing more in the area of lifting up the downtrodden in the society.

She made the call during the District Governor, Ifeyinwa Ejezie’s visit to the club, where 30 market women benefitted from the Club’s N1, 500,000.00 micro credit scheme.

Other projects carried out during Ejezie’s visit include empowerment of three market women with three giant grinding machines; donation of four big dust bins to Isolo General Hospital; free breast, cervical and prostrate cancer screening; visiting the cervical cancer centre under construction at Isolo General Hospital, which Oseni hope to complete during her service period among others.

Oseni who disclosed that the amount spent on all the projects carried out during the District Governor’s visit amounted to N5.5 million said in addition to the empowerment of 30 market women with N50,000.00 each, the second phase  would be carried in about four months time.

“We will furnish the cervical centre after completion with the money raised during my investiture, donations promised by Rotary partners and corporate bodies, district grants and global grants,” she said.

Oseni again appealed to the government to make the humanitarian work being carried out by Rotary club easy as there is suffering in the country with graduates roaming the streets without work, ladies being forced into prostitution to live among other painful and harrowing experiences prevalent in Nigeria due to joblessness and unfavourable economy.

The President said in line with the tradition of the club, a visit was paid by club members to the Osolo of Isolo, Oba Kabiru Agbabiaka.

Ejezie classed the club as one of the vibrant and notable clubs in the District that has produced past district governors and many leaders.

She lauded the club for laudable projects carried out and the fact that the club’s record was satisfactory and in line with the expectations of the District.
