OMIS plans summit for better maritime industry

The Maritime and Offshore Award (The OMIS), a yearly event that recognises excellence in the maritime industry, in collaboration with Prime Atlantic Safety Services and Hybrid Group, has included a technical summit in this year’s edition.
   
The conference, which would also commemorate the World Maritime Day (WMD) on September 23 in Lagos, provides a veritable platform for experts, leaders, regulators and relevant stakeholders to brainstorm and proffer lasting solutions to the challenges confronting the nation’s maritime industry.
 
Theme of the inaugural gathering summit is: “Safety and Security in Maritime.  Chief Executive Officer of The OMIS, Femi Da-Silva, noted: “The technical summit is a pivotal addition to The OMIS Award this year .
 
“While appreciating the laudable efforts of industry regulators, we believe that convening experts and stakeholders in the maritime industry will foster a collective approach towards tackling the challenges we face, and drive the industry forward.”
 
He said the session would be moderated by member of the United Nations Advisory Committee on Trade and Transport, Dr. Alban Igwe.
