The Senator representing Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ireti Kingibe, yesterday, stated that the ongoing cases at the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal were distracting lawmakers from effectively discharging their duties.
The Labour Party (LP) lawmaker also pledged to work with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for the development of the nation’s capital.
Addressing journalists in Abuja, Kingibe, who applauded the tribunal for affirming her victory, urged the appellate court to correct observed lapses at several panels across the federation.
The Chairman, Senate Committee on Women Affairs added that most of the senators, especially the new ones, are vocal on issues of national importance.
She noted: “The only difference is that when we have issues to discuss, and there is going to be a rowdy session, the Senate President calls for an executive session, and you will never know what happened there.”
