
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has directed immediate sack of his Commissioner for Land Alh. Adamu Aliyu Kiyawa, for unguarded utterance against the election petition tribunal judges in Kano.
Similarly, the government relieved his Special Adviser on Youth affairs, Yusuf Imam of his appointment for his outburst against the personality of the Vice President, Kashim Shettima.
The Commissioner for Land was seen in a viral video asking the tribunal Judges to choose between their lives and alleged bribe before passing the gubernatorial judgement.
The derogatory comments of the two political appointees trigger tension in the city ahead of the tribunal’s governorship judgement just as many were calling for security caution to curtail likely crisis in the ancient city.
Briefing journalists on the development, the State Commissioner for Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, distanced the government from the actions of the two aides noting that their views did not in any way, reflect government’s intension.
Dantiye noted, “None of the two persons were directed to speaks on behalf of the government and the Governor deeply respect the person of the Vice President and as such, the two persons were relieved of their positions with immediate effect.”
The Government has directed that henceforth, no government officials is allowed to speak without clearance from the authority, and anybody found wanting would be duly sanctions.
“While condemning the unfortunate threat to the Judges and the disrespect shown to the VP, we wish to make it categorically clear that the views expressed do not represent the official position of the State Government under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
“It is important to emphasize that neither of the two officials got any clearance to speak on behalf of government and none of them served as official spokesperson of the government.
“Kano State Government under Yusuf holds the judiciary in very high esteem and expresses tremendous amount of respect to justices and all judicial officers.
“Beside the good understanding between the government and people of Kano State and Vice President Kashim Shettima, the Kano State Governor Yusuf deeply respects the person and office of the Vice President and will not condone any iota of disrespect on the Vice President or any other Nigerian leader.”
The commissioner added that, “The Kano State Government has also directed that henceforth, no official of government should speak on any matter outside the purview of their MDAs without express clearance and permission. Henceforth, Unguarded and inflammatory statements will not be condoned.
“The Ministry of Information is directed to ensure that all media outlets in the state especially radio stations are complying with the extant guidelines provided by regulatory agencies.
“While expressing our faith in the judicial process, believing very strongly that justice will prevail at all the levels of judicial processes, the Kano State Government wishes to call on all residents in the state to remain law-abiding and continue to go about their normal businesses without any hindrances”, Dantiye stressed.
