
Lagos State chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has re-elected Comfort Nwankwo as the chairman of the chapter for another term in office.
In her acceptance speech, Nwankwo underscored the council’s commitment to raising the standard of public relations practice in the state.
She called on members to unite in championing professional excellence within the state and take action against unlicensed practitioners.
She emphasised the need for revitalisation of the monthly PR clinic and solicited members’ inputs on valuable ideas for exploration. Nwankwo also expressed confidence in the competence of the new exco and their unwavering support to achieving success.
Speaking on ‘Innovation and Disruption: Unlocking opportunities for PR Practice’ on the sidelines of its yearly general meeting, Chief Executive Officer of BlackHouse Media (BHM), Ayeni Adekunle, challenged industry professionals to adapt to the evolving communication landscape, marked by rapid technological advancements and changing generational behaviours.
Adekunle urged PR practitioners to embrace innovation, re-evaluate their practices and consider the societal shifts that impact their operations.
He called on PR practitioners to redefine their profession by integrating modern technologiea, international relations, diplomacy and ethical communication.
Adekunle said there was a need for continuous learning and development to equip talents for the industry and encouraged collaboration within the PR community to drive necessary changes collectively.
Others elected officers are Samuel Ayetutu as Vice Chairman, Dr Fatima Ahmadu as Secretary; Olumuyiwa Ojelabi as Treasurer, Ozioko Uchenna as Financial Secretary and Samuel Adeyemi as the institute’s Public Relations Executive.
