National President, Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Ambali Akeem Olatunji, yesterday, warned that the group would not hesitate to join the indefinite strike planned by Organised Labour next Tuesday over petrol subsidy removal, saying that Nigerians are dying of high Blood pressure (BP) due to alarming poverty and hunger.

NULGE also appealed to the government to address the problem of poverty and hunger in the country, decrying the insensitivity of the Federal Government to the plight of Nigerians due to the socio-economic downturn in the country.

Olatunji spoke during the Second NULGE National Youth Conference Edo 2023, with the theme, ‘ Unleashing Youth Potential for Improved Productivity and Service Delivery at Sub-National Level in Nigeria (Local Council),’ which was held in Benin City, Edo State.

He stressed the need for the government to tackle hunger and poverty, as well as the rising inflation in the country, saying that the government must show commitment to reducing poverty and hunger by first reducing the number of ministers and aides appointed with their lavish take home and extravagant lifestyle.
