
Gov’s brother elevated in Oyo traditional council
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State will, today, inaugurate a committee to deliberate on the demand of Labour leaders in the state for wage review.
Recall that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC) and others had written to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on October 3, asking him to implement the content of the agreement reached between the national labour leaders of the NLC/TUC and the Federal Government of Nigeria.
The labour leaders said Makinde could do more, being the governor of the Pacesetter State.
The letter titled: “Re: Suspension of Nationwide Industrial Action”, was sighted by The Guardian.
The letter, dated October 3,2023, was signed by Kayode Martins (NLC chairman), Bosun Olabiyi (TUC chairman), Fabunmi Olumuyiwa (NLC Secretary), Babatunde Balogun (TUC Secretary), Oluwaseun Olanipekun and Tunde Mustapha.
The letter reads: “We hereby write to urge Your Excellency to please quickly replicate in Oyo State the content of the agreement reached between the national labour leaders of the NLC/TUC and the Federal Government of Nigeria (copy attached) and wish that Your Excellency do more as the Governor of the Pacesetter State.
MEANWHILE, the governor’s brother, Chief Olumuyiwa Makinde, has been congratulated by the President of Senior Staff Club University of Ibadan, Dr. Bisi Olawuyi,on his elevation and installation as Bada Olubadan, and urged him to add quality in the Olubadan-in-Council
Dr. Olawuyi, who described the elevation of Makinde as deserving, urged him to continue to discharge his unique duties to bring the traditional systems of Ibadan into global embrace.
According to him, the club will be happy to associate with the new chief and would be available to assist him in meeting the mandates of the new traditional office.
The President of the club urged Makinde to use his wealth of experience to bring new ideas into solving social problems noticed in Ibadan.
