The meeting, attended by Governors Abba Yusuf (Kano), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), Kauran Gwandu (Kebbi), Ahmed Aliyu (Sokoto) and deputy governor of Jigawa, was hosted by Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina.

At the meeting, the governors agreed to pursue a common agenda to address the devastating security challenge in the region. They also agreed to work together in improving the agriculture sector through a strategic value chain development, access to inputs and commodity markets.

“We want to use this opportunity to appreciate President Bola Tinubu for his intervention on hydropower project to North-west states, with a sole aim of boosting our economy and creating additional jobs for the teeming population,” said Yusuf at a press briefing.

Before the meeting, the governors had accompanied Radda to received former President Muhammadu Buhari for the launch a special security initiative in the state, Katsina State Community Security Watch Corps (KSWC).
