The Rivers State Police Command has called on a Bolt driver to assist in tracking some erring officers who arrested a young man on Wednesday.
The Rivers Police in a statement said its attention has been drawn to a post on X (formerly Twitter) @PIDOMNIGERIA titled “Save Our Soul (SOS)!.
“The Rivers State Police Command is imploring the Bolt driver to come to the Command Headquarters Moscow Road,or call 09014273818, 08161355218 so as to assist in tracking the police personnel,” the statement read.
An X user @PIDOMNIGERIA had made a post to reveal that on Wednesday, the 11th of October 2023, a young man booked a Bolt @Boltapp_ng ride from Street 1, Radio Estate, Rumuokwuta, heading to Diplomat street Rumekini.
The X user said that along the way inside Rumekini, these “rogue” officers from the Rivers state police command @RiversPoliceNG intercepted the occupant and the bolt rider.
The Policemen asked them to come down, rough handled the driver and occupant for no reason, even when the driver was shouting that he is a Bolt rider.
They later left the driver dragged the occupant into their vehicle, and zoomed off-towards Aluu.
“The young man’s number (09033084879) has been switched off, since yesterday (Wednesday) till now. His family members will be looking for him by now, without knowing that the police took him,” the X user said.
“This is a pure case of police @PoliceNG abduction/Kidnapping of an innocent young man. I don’t know if he is dead or alive by now.
“Because those police men could extort him, kill him just to discard evidence. They could also frame him up for a crime he never committed, and send him to prison.
“In their wildest dreams, they will never believe this video was recorded as they were taking the young man away. I don’t know the young man or his family members, but I know he is currently in danger.”
@PIDOMNIGERIA further urged members of the public to help by calling the young man’s number and also share the post so his family members or friends could see his number and recognize it.
The X user also urged the spokesperson of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), Olumuyiwa Adejobi to call on the Rivers State Police command.
