Text: Matt. 21:1-3; Mk. 11:4-6; Lk. 19:30-34
One significant thing to consider about the ass and colt in our Bible texts is that they were tied outside the door. This means that they could see open door, but could not enter. It means they were tied at the gate of the village where decisions are taken and where the powers determine who comes in and goes out. In some communities, for instance; there are powers at the gate that determine if marriage is allowed and at what age the ladies are permitted to marry. In such cases, if a marriage is considered a contraband, it is common to see a lot of children born out of wedlock, while men and women would be co-habiting without payment of dowry and then a high rate of divorce. The powers at the gate could also be responsible for a high poverty rate in such communities. That is why the Bible says you shall possess the gates of your enemies. May every ancient gate that is working against your breakthrough be opened in the name of Jesus (Psa. 24:7).
The colt being tied outside the door symbolises a near success syndrome. It means that you see your breakthrough, but would not access it. Notice also that the colt was tied where two ways meet, which could be a crossroad or T-junction. This is a symbol of satanic altar or coven. Some people are living in the city, yet tied down in a coven or an evil altar in their villages For some persons, it is their picture that is being used on an altar. Some can use an image candle or a doll and summon the person’s spirit into it on the altar. If your hands are tied spiritually, it means the works of your hands would not yield result. If your legs are tied, you will not move forward in life. I decree to you today, wherever you have been tied down, you are set free in Jesus’ name.
When Jesus sent men to get him the colt, there was a resistance from the village powers. These are powers that don’t allow their victims to go easily. Jer. 50:33 says the children of Israel and Judah were oppressed together and their enemies refused to let them go. When the colt was delivered, it was able to fulfill its purpose. Jesus needed it just like Jesus needs you for a specific assignment today. You are saved to serve. The donkey was ordained to carry Jesus into Jerusalem. In fulfilling this purpose, its location changed from the village, where it was celebrated, to another location.
This means your location determines your destiny. If you are in the wrong location in life, you will struggle fruitlessly. Some people have died in the wrong location and never fulfilled their purpose. The donkey was mightily used by Jesus and was celebrated. There is a celebration in the city that is being delayed because someone is tied down in the village. It is sad to know that the one responsible for the donkey’s predicament was its owner (Matt. 10:34-36).
