
Operatives of Lagos State Police Command attached to the Ago Palace way division have intensified security arrangements within its jurisdiction to forestall activities of criminal elements.
The Guardian learnt that the new security arrangement followed reports that a suspected kidnapping gang visited the area recently.
It was also alleged that the gang made an attempt in Lamgbasa area of Lekki highbrow area of the state, which was foiled following quick response by a team of police operatives who responded swiftly on receiving the information.
Meanwhile, residents of Ago palace have commended the police for stepping up security in the area, especially conducting intensive stop and search on every car which has more than two occupants.
The Guardian learnt that the security architecture put in the Ago palace area has remained intact as the area is currently very tight for any criminal to penetrate.
A businessman in the area, Ugochukwu Eze, said: “There is adequate security in Ago because police are everywhere both day and night, any report of high rate of kidnapping here is a false alarm.”
A commercial bus driver, identified simply as Kunle, said: “The police are doing enough in the area after the election cases and heinous crimes have reduced drastically.”
