A Police Inspector, identified as Egueoje John, attached to a former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has sent out a Save Our Soul (SOS) message for the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) and members of the public over threat to his life by suspected hoodlums.
John claimed that those suspected to be after his life are political thugs, who made an assassination attempt at his principal early this year.
He alleged that the hoodlums had initially opened fire at the convoy of his boss, Dan Abia Bassey, on February 28, at about 8:45 a.m. on their way to the airport, in Eket Local Council of Akwa Ibom State.
Speaking from his hideout, he explained that his ordeal began when he foiled the assassination attempt that killed some of his colleagues. According to him, the hoodlums were suspected to have been sent by some perceived disgruntled politicians, who in retaliation went ahead to set his house ablaze for rescuing his boss, family, and other members of his entourage from their attack. He alleged that since then, his life has been threatened, while his family has also been in hiding.
Meanwhile, a police extract cited by The Guardian showed that the matter was reported at Benin Police Command on the day of the incident, while efforts are on to arrest the suspects.
