A joint environmental task force has stormed the Amuwo-Odofin area of Lagos State to dislodge the illegal use of the environment.

The visit of the task force was disclosed by the Chairman of the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area (LGA), Valentine Buraimoh, on Friday.

“The joint task force, ably led by its chairman, Hon. Gbenga Nathaniel Akinbinu, is not relenting on ensuring that the mandate to recapture the glory days of the environs is upheld,” Buraimoh wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

In another development, the LAWMA Environmental Monitoring and Enforcement Team on night duty on Thursday at Macgregor Road and Awolowo Road in Ikoyi arrested illegal wheelbarrow pushers trading by the roadsides and walkways.

A spokesperson for the Lagos State Government, Kunle Adeshina, also said the same team visited Omorinre Johnson Avenue and Prince Adelowo Adedeji Street in Lekki Peninsula on Wednesday night to sustain and maintain zero tolerance for unwanted street trading.

Adeshina added that the operatives of the Monitoring, Enforcement and Compliance department of the Lagos Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources (LasgMOE) were at work on Thursday.

The operatives were said to have removed some illegal structures built on the drainage setback at Oba Agbabiaka Street, off Ago Palace Way in Okota.

Meanwhile, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to the health sector.

Sanwo-Olu said his government will continue to ensure that quality health care services are accessible and affordable to residents of the State.

Governor Sanwo-Olu spoke on Wednesday when he received the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Tunji Alausa, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Lagos House, Marina.
