She added that members of the club are humans too who have families to care for, but couldn’t just close their eyes to see the poor suffering.
Oseni also called on various members of the community, especially pregnant women to ensure proper cleanliness of their environment, while she strongly counselled the latter to ensure they do not miss their antenatal appointments and to ensure they take every necessary immunisation for their children as soon as they are born.
She made the call on the world polio day, which also coincides with the Rotary Family days, a three-day event organised by Rotary International with its partners, including Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to carry out tests and screening in various ailments, including breast cancer, cervical cancer, malaria, HIV among others throughout Nigeria.
“We have carried out polio walk to sensitise people of Isolo on the need for prevention of polio by making their children available for polio vaccine to commemorate world polio day.
“Though Nigeria was certified polio free by the World Health Organisation (WHO) on August 25, 2020, there was resurgence of the virus in the Northern part of Nigeria between 2021 and 2022 with 168 cases in 2022.
“This is the reason for this awareness that there is need for continuous taking of vaccines against the virus, much more so as we are still having two nations: Pakistan and Afghanistan endemic with the virus and our club has spent nothing less than N500, 000.00 to carry out this campaign
She also called on Nigerians, especially, people in Isolo community to take advantage of the free drugs, urging them to know their health status and stay healthy.
