C’River governor suspends SEMA DG

Governor of Cross River State, Bassey Otu, has suspended the Director General, State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Mrs. Angela Odey. The suspension order was contained in a statement by Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor, Emmanuel Ogbeche, in Calabar, yesterday.
The statement, however, did not give any reason for the suspension of the DG, who was appointed few months ago.
“The Governor of Cross River, Bassey Edet Otu, has ordered the immediate suspension of the DG of Cross River SEMA, Chief (Mrs.) Angela Odey,” Ogbeche stated. He noted that the DG was directed to hand over to the most senior director in the agency before close of work on Monday, October 30, 2023.
“During the period of her suspension, she is requested not to be engaged, covertly or overtly, in the administration of SEMA, except otherwise directed by His Excellency,” the statement added.
The Guardian gathered that suspension of the DG came when the agency commenced the distribution of the fuel subsidy removal palliatives to the people of the state.
But our reporter could not confirm whether the suspension had anything to do with palliative distribution.
