The Ogun state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has expressed the commitment of his administration towards the efficient operation of the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueled mass transit buses.
The Ogun state government gave out some CNG-powered buses to its civil servants and workers as a means of palliative to cushion the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy.
Governor Abiodun thereafter revealed his administration’s plan to deploy some CNG-fueled mass transit buses to students across campuses in the state.
He has also announced that the Ogun state government has secured a cutting-edge gas refilling station in the strategic location of Obada Oko to facilitate efficient refuelling of the buses.
Abiodun in a post on X (formerly Twitter) late Thursday night, said this station is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to ensure effective gas supply for the CNG buses in Ogun State, thereby reducing emissions and promoting a cleaner environment.
“In addition, I am pleased to inform you that our administration is committed to providing the necessary infrastructure across the state to support the operations of the CNG buses,” he said.
“Specifically, we are working diligently to establish gas refuelling stations along the major routes and terminals.
“These stations will be strategically located to ensure ease of access and convenience for both our passengers and bus operators.”
Abiodun said that by implementing these measures, the government aims to not only enhance the overall efficiency of the bus services but also contribute to a sustainable future by minimising the environmental impact of its operations.
By transitioning to CNG buses, he added that his administration is reducing harmful emissions, thereby improving air quality and promoting a healthier environment for the residents of Ogun State.
