.How do we do God’s will? (Cont)

Believers must be totally consecrated to God, who, through His revealed will and inspired word, will faithfully guide their lives (Mat 4:4). (3) Believers must have as their purpose in life to seek and love God with their whole heart, soul and might, relying on Him to provide that which is good for their lives (Deut 6:5; Ps 119:2; Mat 6:33; Phil 3:8; see Mat 22:37; Col 3:5).

• Submit Totally To The Holy Spirit Guidance
No obedience – no sonship. The Holy Spirit gives guidance. “…Those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God,” (Rom 8:14).
Read Rom 8:1-17. Life in the spirit

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15: For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” 16: The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. 17: And if children, then heirs – heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together,” (Rm. 8:14-17).

Paul uses adoption or “sonship” to illustrate the believer’s new relationship with God. In Roman culture, the adopted person lost all rights in his old family and gained all the rights of a legitimate child in his new family. He became a full heir to his new father’s estate. Likewise, when a person becomes a Christian, he or she gains all the privileges and responsibilities of a child in God’s family. One of these outstanding privileges is being led by the Spirit (see Galatians 4:5, 6). We may not always feel as though we belong to God, but the Holy Spirit is our witness. His inward presence reminds us of who we are and encourages us with God’s love (5:5).

We are no longer cringing and fearful slaves; instead, we are the Master’s children. What a privilege! Because we are God’s children, we share in great treasures as co-heirs. God has already given us his best gifts: his Son, forgiveness, and eternal life, and he encourages us to ask him for whatever we need.

Surely, if God personally assumes responsibility for guiding us and He promised I will instruct you, then the whole matter of guidance must be of great importance to Him. If life is to be lived at its best, it is imperative that we have a sense of instrumentation, a feeling and consciousness that we are carrying out purposes beyond our own, of fulfilling a will that is infinite and ultimate.

If we do not submit ourselves to be led by God, two things can happen. The first is that we can be more easily led by other forces.
