Super Eagles and Gent striker Gift Orban is in the running for the Europa Conference League Player of the Week award.
Orban and three other nominees were announced on Europa Conference League X handle.
The three other nominees are Daniel Peretz of Maccabi Tel Aviv, Jason Svanthorsson of Breidalik and Bodo/Glimt Cameroon player Faris Moumbagna.
Orban’s nomination was as a result of his hat-trick in Gent’s 3-2 win away to Iceland side Breidablik in Group B.
The 21-year-old put Gent 1-0 ahead in the 6th minute before a brace from Svanthorsson on 16th and 18th gave Breidablik a 2-1 lead.
Orban drew the Belgian side level in the 54th minute after scoring from the penalty spot.
He then completed his hat-trick in the 69th minute to make it 3-2.
The winner from the four-man shortlist will be decided via votes.
This season, Orban has scored three goals in 10 games for Gent in the Belgian league.
However, he was not invited for the Super Eagles 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe this month.
