The Guardian learnt that the action was in continuation of the agency’s move to rid the state of the menace of commercial motorcyclists a.k.a Okada riders, who are attempting to reinitiate operations despite the ban on their activities.
Chairman of the Agency, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Shola Jejeloye, who led the operation that lasted several hours, said the agency would continue truncating the activities of Okada operators if they don’t turn over a new leaf.
Jejeloye warned: “Okada operations have been banned and banned for good. It’s high time operators looked for a different line of legitimate work or have their motorcycles impounded as well as risk fine or jail term. There is no room for Okada operations in Lagos.”
He assured residents that the mop up exercise of okada and other activities that go against government’s agenda would be continuous and deliberate until safety and serenity is completely attained in the metropolis.
