NIM in partnership talks with GAC Motors

The Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) has consistently sought innovative partnerships to enrich its programmes and contribute to the growth of its members and the larger business community. The recent visit to GAC Motors, a subsidiary of the CIG Group and a renowned player in the automotive industry, marks a pivotal step in this direction.

The Institute’s delegation, led by the President and Chairman of Council, Dr (Mrs.) Christiana V.N. Atako, FNIM, NPOM, was warmly received by the Chairman of GAC Motors, Chief Diana Chen, and her executive team.

The visit commenced with an overview of GAC Motors, presented by the Group Chief MD/CEO, Mr. Abiodun Amokomowo. The presentation covered the company’s history, milestones, and its commitment to innovation and quality in the automotive sector.

In her address, the President and Chairman of Council of NIM, who congratulated the company for the successful completion and launch of the GAC Car Assembly Plant and the first 2000 Vehicles Assembly by GAC Motors, remarked that “…the reputation of GAC Motors preceded itself, not just as a pleading business entity bust as a symbol of excellence, innovation and sustainable growth….” She appreciated the company for “the pride of place accorded the Graduate Members of the Institute in the recently concluded Choice Group Management Trainee Programme, a one-year programme designed by Choice International Group (CIG), your parent company, to integrate young graduates into the management and leadership of your organisation at levels”.

Highlighting that as the focus of the visit was on knowledge exchange, professional development, and industry engagement, she requested the management and staff of GAC Motors who are not yet members of, to join, the Institute.

As part of the programmes for the visit, the NIM team was given a guided tour of the company’s showroom, where they had the opportunity to view GAC Motors’ diverse range of vehicles. This firsthand experience allowed the delegation to appreciate the brand’s commitment to design, technology, and sustainability.

The highlight of the visit was the comprehensive tour of GAC Motors’ cutting-edge car assembly plant in Ogba, Lagos. Led by the General Manager, Ogba Industrial Zone, Mr. Herman Tan, the NIM team witnessed the meticulous processes involved in crafting each vehicle, from design and assembly to quality control. The tour not only showcased GAC Motors’ commitment to precision and technological advancement but also provided valuable insights into the complexities of modern automotive manufacturing.

The Chairman of GAC Motors, Chief Diana Chen, expressed her appreciation for NIM’s proactive approach to collaboration. She highlighted the potential for synergy between the institute’s professional expertise and GAC Motors’ practical industry insights. The NIM delegation, in turn, expressed their gratitude for the warm reception and the transparent discussions that unfolded during the visit.

As the visit concluded, both parties expressed their commitment to formalizing the collaboration.
