“In five years, I will be 50 years old. I will have moved on to something else that would take up a lot of my time. I wish to put my all into it,” Basketmouth said.

Basketmouth’s decision to retire stems from his desire to pursue other interests and dedicate more time to his family. He expressed his intention to venture into filmmaking, music production, and other creative endeavors.

“I am confident that I will be able to combine all of my interests and completely enjoy films, TV shows, and concerts. Doing all of these things and still giving comedy your best will be difficult,” he said.

Despite his impending retirement, Basketmouth assured his fans that he would not abandon comedy entirely. He plans to make occasional appearances and participate in special projects.

Basketmouth announcement has sent shockwaves through the Nigerian comedy scene. He is widely regarded as one of the country’s most influential comedians, having pioneered stand-up comedy and influencing generations of performers.
