
National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates’ Confraternity), Sahara Deck, in partnership with the Steve Surulere Saheed Foundation, on Saturday, advocated for government support for Persons With Disabilities (PWD).

The National Association of Seadogs ‘Sahara Deck’ in partnership with Steve Surulere Saheed Foundation (SSF), also donated walking aids to residents of the Karon-majigi community in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), shedding light on the critical challenges faced by this community.
Speaking while donating items to mark the 2023 International Day of Persons With Disabilities in Abuja, Capoon, Sahara Deck, Olamide Oni, lamented over lack of access to quality healthcare and the deplorable condition of the local school in Karon majigi.
He urged authorities to take immediate action to ensure healthcare access and improve educational facilities for the community’s betterment.
He said: “This generous act reflects our commitment to uplifting human dignity and addressing societal issues. Established in 1952, the National Association of Seadogs is a civil and advocacy-driven organization dedicated to community support.

“The International Day of Persons with Disabilities serves as a reminder to promote the rights and well-being of individuals with disabilities, fostering awareness across political, social, economic, and cultural spheres.
“The National Association of Seadogs (Sahara Deck) is a civil and advocacy-driven organization committed to advancing human societies through impactful events and programs. Since its founding in 1952, the organization has been a steadfast supporter of communities in need.”
In his remarks, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Steve Surulere Saheed Foundation, Steve Agboyinu, called on the federal government to support Persons With Disabilities.
He called on the Persons With Disabilities to be united and work with each other to address challenges faced among them.

He said: “Today was a day to remember disabled people all over the word. Seadogs approach us for a possible collaboration to help this particular community and being our own gold to partner with willing partners who is ready to support the community, we call on government take interest in what is happening here.”
One of the beneficiaries, Ibrahim Sagir, said: “We are going to tell the world of this important donation by the National Association of Seadogs in partnership with the Steve Surulere Saheed Foundation, they have tried to support us with an additional leg to move around.”
