Delta police arrest two suspects for stealing church musical instruments

The Delta State Police Command has arrested two suspects for allegedly stealing musical instruments from churches in Orerokpe, Delta State.

The state police spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

Edafe said the suspects, whose names were not immediately released, were arrested following a series of complaints received by the police about a syndicate that breaks into churches at night and carts away church musical instruments.

He then added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Wale Abass, directed DPOs to ensure that this trend is nipped in the bud within their area of responsibilities.

“In compliance with this directive, the DPO Orerokpe, acting on intelligence, gathered, trailed and arrested two suspects while they were trying to get buyers for the stolen items,” Edafe said.

According to him, the suspects were arrested and many musical instruments were recovered from them.

The policemen, however, urged residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police, saying that timely information is very important in crime fighting.

“The message from the command is clear: “IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING.”
This will go a long way in helping the police to secure you and your properties.” he added.
