
Nigeria’s Super Falcons have qualified for the 2024 CAF Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The Falcons booked their place at next year’s tournament after defeating Cape Verde 2-1 in the second leg playoff on Tuesday.
The result means the Falcons qualify 7-1 on aggregate following a 5-0 win in the first leg in Abuja.
Second half goals from Esther Okoronkwo and Rasheedat Ajibade, secured a comeback win for the nine-time African champions.
Ivania Moreira gave Caper Verde the lead in the eight minute which they held going into halftime.
The Falcons equalized in the 62nd minute through Okoronkwo before Ajibade netted the winner on 93 minutes.
Teams who have already qualified for WAFCON 2024 are reigning champions South Africa, Botswana, DR Congo, Ghana and Algeria.
Others who have also booked their qualification tickets are Zambia, Tanzania, Senegal and Mali.
At the 2022 WAFCON, the Falcons finished a disappointing fourth place.
