Rivers seeks synergy among agencies for service delivery

Rivers State has charged agencies on synergy to improve the lot of the people in line with the manifesto of the Governor Siminalayi Fubara-led administration.

In a statement, Commissioner for Housing, Gift Worlu, advised them to complement one another and shun unhealthy rivalry during a meeting with the board and management of Rivers State Housing and Property Development Authority, in Port Harcourt.

He restated the current administration’s commitment to improve the housing sub-sector.

The commissioner said the meeting was to map out ways both bodies could synergise and aggregate ideas for moving the state forward in the area of
provision of decent and affordable housing for the people.

Worlu stressed that shelter is not only an important and fundamental human need, but also correlates with the well-being and increased productivity of the populace.

He, therefore, charged the agency to partner the ministry in consolidating what had been achieved.

The commissioner implored the parastatal to work closely with the ministry in ensuring that the state’s share of the proposed 1,000 housing units for low and medium-income earners per state was delivered in good time.

Worlu hinted that the Federal Government had directed ministries of housing across the federation to strengthen their authorities, agencies or commissions responsible for shelter development.
