Christmas: Mbah assures Enugu residents, travellers of security as army flags off exercise

Governor, Peter Mbah,

Enugu State governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has assured residents living across the state and those that would be travelling to Enugu from around the world for Christmas and New Year celebrations of adequate security of life and property throughout the festive period.

This was as the Nigerian Army, while flagging off a military operation codenamed ‘Exercise Golden Dawn III’ in the state designed to pre-empt security threats, guarantee the safety of citizens across the state, as well as reassured them of a hitch-free Christmas.

They said Enugu remains the most peaceful state in the South East as a result of the enormous support from the state government.

Mbah gave this assurance at the Tactical Headquarters of the Nigerian Army, in the Udi Council of the state, while addressing guests and military personnel at the flag-off ceremony.

The governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, acknowledged that the Christmas period is often characterised by high level of criminal activities, such as armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism, among other security challenges.
