The traditional ruler of Owa kingdom in Delta State, Emmanuel Efeizomor II, has raised the alarm over growing incidences of exhumation and dismembering of corpses by unknown persons.
He disclosed the concern in his palace at Owa Oyibu during a meeting with members of Owa community. Describing the acts as unwholesome, he said a high-powered panel has been constituted to carry out an investigation, warning that anyone found culpable would face the law.
The monarch charged residents to shun the get-rich-quick syndrome, which he said was dangerously creeping into the community, even as he urged parents to curb the excesses of their children and wards during Yuletide. He also cautioned people to be security conscious and minimise incidents of crime in the area during Christmas festivities.
The monarch described the yearly Owa community council meeting as a forum designed to appraise developments in the community and chart ways for advancement.
Efeizomor commended security agents for ensuring peace in the kingdom and enjoined them to step up efforts towards stamping out attacks by herdsmen on farmers. He also condemned growing rate of motorcycle accidents in the area and urged riders to be careful.
