Edo guber: Akhaine vows to restore state’s lost glory, visits APC state exco

Dr. Sylvester Odion Akhaine

Activist professor turned politician, Sylvester Akhaine, said he would restore Edo State lost glory if elected governor in next year’s gubernatorial election.

Akhaine, who is from Edo Central, Ekpoma, made the remark while addressing the All Progressives Congress (APC) state EXCO, on Tuesday, expressing optimism that the crises plaguing the state in all ramifications are surmountable with the right leadership.

He said: “Edo people should be expecting a great deal of transformation, and I understand the challenges. We are, therefore, ready to fix them with a great deal of commitment.

“Our people are very honest with a great deal of integrity, and they should choose the right candidate to run affairs of the state, because we can’t have the same story over and over again. We need governance that will make our people smile again.”

Akhaine noted that millions of his people know that he has a menu of solutions to problems through his interactions with them.

“For example, in 1907 there was portable water in the then Mid-West Region, but in 2023 there is no pipe borne water or any good means to get one.

“The pipe borne water comes from the Ogba River for the entire people of the state, and I think we have the solution to solve all these problems if elected,” Akhaine said.
