Lawmaker pledges to pay WAEC fees for 10,000 indigent students in Edo

The member representing Etsako Federal Constituency, Sunday Anamero Dekeri has pledged to pay the WAEC Fees for 10,000 indigenes of Edo state who are billed to sit for exams next year.

Anamero disclosed this to newsmen in Benin City following the unveiling of the commencement of free WAEC enrollment for students in Public Schools in Edo state.

He said a total number of ten thousand students will benefit from the process which will be distributed to the indigenes of the state.

He further said, “That is a reflection of my commitment to providing opportunities for every child to thrive and actualize their careers as education remains the pivot for the development and prosperity of any society and nation.

“Without any iota of doubt, financial constraints offer times had hindered and truncated the dreams of many deserving students from pursing and attaining quality education to an acceptable level.

“Therefore, in addressing this issue head – on, we have devised a plan to bridge the gap and alleviate the burden placed on economically disadvantaged families.” Anamero said.

He noted that the allocation of the forms will go to various sectors irrespective of political, religious or tribal believe, such as Christian Association of Nigerian, Orphanage homes, Muslim Faithful, Physically Challenged Persons, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Civil Societies Organisation, Internally Displaced Person’s, Traditional Rulers anong others.
